Happy New Year

I meant to post this over new years, but better late than never. This Michigan January 2024 reminded me of January 2007 (I believe I am remembering the year right) when we didn’t get any snowfall until January 10. I remember walking with my dad and his dog Lady early that January on bare ground on a nearby dirt road and wondering if we were ever going to get snow. We got it this year starting on January 9, and especially got it this weekend, receiving around a foot of snow. I bet the snowmobilers, skiers, sledders, tubers, and snowboarders are enjoying the new powder. I have to admit that a late start to the winter snow does make the winter go by faster; in December 2007 it snowed every single day and that got very tiresome compared to relaxed December 2023 when we didn’t get much snow at all.

Thanks to everyone who sent cards over the holidays: Alan and Robin, Linc and Sarah, Brook and Jeff, Martha, Dave and Carol, and Jim and Christy:

I realize I’m in the minority, but I still enjoy collecting/owning music, and Linc and Sarah gave me some nice CDs for Christmas this year. I will convert these to FLAC files and then to mp3 for portability, but I still enjoy receiving the physical CDs:

I don’t do music streaming, so this is a good start to the new year with some good new music (new to me). Fortunately Amazon still sells direct mp3 downloads (I bought 5 songs this weekend), so when I just want to buy individual songs by musicians, I can still do that.
